-====== Networks of Mutual Aid (NOMA) Statement on the Incident at Casino for Social Medicine on July 29, 2025 ======

-02.08.2025
-
-On July 29, 2025, Networks of Mutual Aid organized a launch event (NOMA Sari-Sari) for projects related to our four-month scholarship program funded by Wyvern Art Fund. The event took place from 2–10 PM at Casino for Social Medicine in Berlin, Neukölln, and included presentations from NOMA participants and a DJ set by our guest artist Gloriosa, a transfeminine BIPOC artist, DJ, and performer.
-
-During the event, Gloriosa was subjected to transmisogynistic verbal harassment and physical assault on Sonnenallee by individuals at the neighboring café. We recognize that our lack of preparation and insufficient safety measures left Gloriosa exposed and unsupported and our care structures were not robust enough to reduce the harm done.
-
-We acknowledge, apologize and take full responsibility that these measures were not previously in place – including a lack of an awareness team during the event and a lack of coordination about these details with Casino in advance. We are committed to developing and implementing safety and awareness infrastructures moving forward.
-
-Meanwhile, we are in contact with Gloriosa and are committed to responding to her expressed needs and requests. We are organizing long-term financial assistance and continued support through any legal proceedings that may follow. Additionally, as part of our ongoing collective reflection and learning, we are committed to working with venues to establish proper safety protocols at our events and others.

-===== Wyvern statement, Networks of Mutual Aid event, 29.07.2025 =====
-
-
-On 29.07.2025, Wyvern Art Fund had funded the organization of a launch event for its four-month scholarship program, Networks Of Mutual Aid (NOMA), in Berlin, Neukölln, at Casino for Social Medicine and had invited Gloriosa as a DJ, a transfeminine BIPOC artist.
-
-During the event, the artist suffered verbal and physical violence from guests at the neighboring cafe.
-
-We apologize and acknowledge that we have not given full consideration to the safety measures that would have had to be in place, including the lack of an awareness team during the event, and a lack of coordination about these details with Casino in advance.
-
-We believe that each guest and invited artist should be provided with information about who to turn to if they experience violence at our events, and we are committed to providing awareness infrastructure for our events in the future.
-
-Wyvern Art Fund stands with the NOMA statement.
